Jill Kintner returns to North SeaTac BMX Park to celebrate her Bronze Medal performance at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Come out to North SeaTac BMX Park to meet Jill and hear about her journey to the Olympics and her Bronze Medal accomplishment – get her autograph and maybe a picture with her as well. We’ll hold a free “Basics of BMX Racing Clinic” to get you started and a one-day trial membership will be available for anyone new to the sport. All riders will receive a medal. The race registration fee is $10.00 with all proceeds going to a “Jill Kintner – Olympic Dreams Scholarship Fund.” This fund will help local boys and girls who need some financial assistance with memberships or new equipment.
Jill Kintner, a Seattle native, started BMX racing at the age of eight following her brother Paul into the sport. In 2002, at the age of 21 and the ABA BMX World Champion, she switched over to mountain biking, where she would eventually win the 3 consecutive world titles in 4-cross. In 2007, while continuing mountain biking, Jill returned to BMX racing, winning her first race back, a Pro National race. Following her title at the Mountain Biking 2007 Worlds, she switched to BMX full-time in order to dedicate herself to the pursuit of an Olympic medal in Beijing. After overcoming various obstacles to achieve her dream of an Olympic medal, Jill plans to continue with both BMX racing and mountain biking, and will be finding ways to bring exposure to BMX racing and give back to the sport.
