Posted at 01:40:31 PMTOKYO, JAPAN – November 7, 2007 - The Nippon Open Snowboarding Championships is pleased to announce that Nissan X-Trail will be the event’s title sponsor for the eighth consecutive year. This season’s Nissan X-Trail Nippon Open Snowboarding Championships will be held at ALTS Bandai in Fukushima from February 26-March 2, 2008.
Taking place for 15 years in Japan, the Nissan X-Trail Nippon Open is one of the country’s most prestigious events and attracts top Japanese riders like Kazuhiro Kokubo, Takaharu Nakai and Shota Suzuki, as well international riders like Shaun White (USA), Jamie Anderson (USA), Natasza Zurek (CAN), Mason Aguirre (USA), Torah Bright (AUSTRALIA) and Kelly Clark (USA) to compete in its halfpipe, slopestyle and rail jam competitions.
As a part of its relationship with the Nippon Open, Nissan hosted an amateur snowboard contest in Ehime, Japan on November 4, 2007 called the ‘No Limit Challenge – Road to the Nippon Open’. First place winners in the men’s and women’s divisions earned 100,000 JPY, complimentary accommodations during the 2008 Nippon Open and an invitation to compete in the pre-qualification rounds at the Nippon Open. The Nissan No Limit Challenge – Road to the Nippon Open also held a kids snowboard competition where the winner was invited to compete in the Nippon Open Kids Jam Finals.
