18. are there contests in seattle wa
from: Mitchie
This year there are no pro races in Seattle, but I am sure there is a local track nearby (there ALWAYS is). If you go on the ababmx.com website it will show you a complete list of tracks and give you links to those track's schedules.

17. hey alise i was wonder what you do to get pumped up before a big race?
from: Taylor
I am a very competitive person by nature, so just the fact that I am going to RACE someone, makes me get pumped up. I also listen to music while I warm up and just visualize the perfect victory lap so that I can get focused. Once I am in the gate, it's all routine and habitual thoughts I've gotten over time. Another thing that pumps me up (if I ever take the time to just stop and about it) is of all the time I've put in, and how much happier I am when I get the results I want. That really makes me want to win.

16. whos ur favorite rider?
from: vans44
I look up to lots of different people for many different reasons. Shanaze Reade is an idol of mine on the women's side of things just because she is on another level compared to most of the women and has accomplished so much. I like Maris Strombergs for the same reasons. However, I also really like how Randy Stumpfhauser approaches racing, his mind set and reputation are awesome. Sam Willoughby is another rider I like. I like to watch him race because he always looks like he's giving it everything he's got, it's just intense. On the opposite spectrum, riders like Kris Fox and Mikey Day make riding look so easy with how flowy and stylish they are. I gotta love my buddy Joey Bradford as well. His work ethic is truly amazing. And then there's Kim Hayashi...my ultimate role model as an amateur rider. She was small and rode like a boy, just what I wanted to be like when I got to be a girl pro. So as you can see, I have A LOT of favorite riders =]

15. MY 15 Y/O DAUGHTER IS ONE OF YOUR BIGGEST FANS. SHE RACES AND HAS BEEN GETTING BETTER AND BETTER. SHE IS CONSIDERING TURNING PRO NEXT YEAR, WHAT ADVISE WOULD YOU GIVE TO A 15 OR 16 YEAR OLD GIRL ABOUT TURNNG PRO?
from: jwood
Be patient. First you have to make sure you're READY to turn pro. Many girls turn before they're ready and they don't realize what they're getting into. There is no "A pro" stepping stone to "AA pro" in girls. You're going to be racing the best of the best right away, so you have to be patient when looking for results. It takes time to get on the podium and you just mentally need to be ready for any outcome when first turning pro.

14. I had a question about training when the weather is bad. What do you do when you can't get to the track to practice? Do you practice indoor with a bike trainer or ? I live in Maryland and it's been raining a lot lately and it makes it hard to race or pratice. Thanx
from: mrnaturals
I have access to an indoor track all winter, but it is VERY small and I'm usually keeping busy with another sport, so I can compare to those who don't have that option. You can do sprints and those sorts of things on rollers or wind trainers indoors. You can also look for indoor parking ramps and things like that to goof around and ride wheely's in and work on skills (if they're not too busy). You also need to go to the gym or be in another sport that keeps you physically fit. Without a track to work on skills, you at least want to be strong going into a race so you only have one aspect of the race to worry about. Other kinds of riding like skate parks and things indoor will help you to also keep your skills up through bad weather as well.

13. Hi; This is Alek's grandfather asking you. How many of the competitors are from the St Cloud, MN track?
from: hjpeterson2
No one that I race is from St. Cloud. But if you're asking how many people race there...usually around 150 just at my local track

12. do you think Sams Dad is as good at commentating as Redman?
from: Shaz
col-cat shreds the microphone scene

11. how much do you practice weekly if you practice?
from: Shane Stanwood
In previous years I got coniditioning done through my other sports (gymnastics and track and field..especially during the cold Minnesota winter) but during the summer I usually ride like 4 or 5 days a week. This year maybe more though since I am done with those other sports.

10. do you have a private track?
from: Shane Stanwood
No i don't but my parents started a track in my local area that is now one of the best tracks in the nation...so that's nice

9. whatt kindaa bike do you ride?
from: Shane Stanwood
REDLINE

8. How long have you been racing?
from: kavin bradner
since I was 6..so 12 years now. I'm already a veteran at age 18 lol

7. Hey Alise, we've seen videos of you doing Gymnastics in between BMX races. Do you think that has helped you or hurt you in the past when you're trying to prepare for the next National?
from: Rich-GO211
In the big picture, I don't think I would be the same racer today without my gymnastics background. Gymnastics has helped me develop muscles, become more agile, and keep in shape throughout the years. I think it has especially helped me in the strength department (during the long cold winters especially) but as far as skills go...I haven't been able to devote the same amount of time as others to riding my bike so I still have a lot to work on in that aspect..especially now that gymnastics is over for good.

6. how do you go so fast? and look so good doin it?
from: mark mulville
haha thanks...I've just raced a long time and put a lot of work into it. Practice makes perfect

5. im thinking of racing some locals in pittsburgh can you train me before?
from: mark mulville
haha well...I have my own race schedule to hit up this summer so I don't think I will be making it out to pittsburgh for too long...just for the national weekend. But if you have questions there, feel free to ask

4. when are you coming to pittsburgh to ride southpark?
from: mark mulville
just for the national there.

3. Whats it like being a top P-R-O-F-E-S-S-I-O-N-A-L at 18? Do alot of jaws drop when people find out what you do?
from: Josh Patton
haha, well I've been pro since I was 15 and I guess I've just never really looked at it as being a top professional. I just do it because I love it and I've gotten good results at a young age by doing that. It kind of gives me a reality check at how cool it actually is when my friends at school or people outside the sport of BMX know who i am and respect what I am doing. And it's just funny because no one expects a little 5'2" gymnast to race bmx and do big jumps, so I get a lot of "what? YOU do that?" comments. haha

2. i watched that pole vault video on your profile is that you? cause if it is you fly you are so fast how do you stay in such good shape with such a busy schedule?
from: Spencer
Yup that's me pole vaulting haha. I do track&field and gymnastics along with racing my bike. So even though I am busy, all my activities are physical and that will keep a person in shape!

1. dude you rock how do you stay concentrated on the track?
from: Spencer
I just love competition and want to win so I just stay motivated to work on getting better and better all the time
