whats your training routine now that your aiming for a gold metal at the olympics in Beijing? from: Nate YeomansAll training is the same as the past few years. The next race is always the most important for me so I'm taking one race at a time. The only thing that is changing is that I'm taking a bunch of races off so that I can train more often for the more important Olympic qualifying events. |

What is the greatest invention, that you use, in the last 10 years? from: Chad DeGrootI answered this question for my first high school essay my senior year. I answered with "nasal spray." Of course I was half kidding but half serious too because when I'm sick I don't think I would be able to live without them. Needless to say I got a "D" on that paper and no respect from my teacher.
But seriously, off the top of my head, I would say the technology of cell phones. Makes my life so much easier being able to stay in constant contact with emails and such. I'm sure I might change my mind if I heard some other answers though. |

It seems like Gymnist have an advantage in BMX... would you encourage young riders to add tumbling 101 to there training schedule?
P.S. Thanks for being dR... you made our BMX years more enjoyable.
Thanks for being a freind... Those memories will last a LIFETIME from: mark himeGymnastics definitely made a difference in my racing. Not only did it give me great upper body and leg workouts, it also taught me how to crash. I was so used to tucking up into a ball in gymnastics that before I would hit the ground in a crash I would instinctively curl up into a ball and that always protected me from more serious injuries. I would totally recommend any gymnastics exercises to all ages. You know I'm always here for you guys Mark. |

You always smile and show off your teeth how many times do you brush a day? from: Bryce BettsI smile a lot because I got my teeth whitened. I'm going to get the most out of the money spent. |
|
Do you have one of those dollar photo booths in your bathroom? Is that were you got those black and whites done? from: Bryce BettsNo, I just don't have a color camera yet. I used my grandma's camera she had as a kid. |
|
Judging by the size of the amateur and skills of the rider who do you think will become the next dR? from: Bryce BettsThere are so many small riders out there that have way more skill and speed than I ever did at their age. I'd say the kid that reminds me most of myself is little Lucas Howes. |
|
When are you going to finally propose to Tiffany? from: Bryce Betts(FYI- Tiffany is my girlfriend). I'm not sure yet. I'm a guy, so give me time, we've only been dating for 5 years. |

What I've noticed about pros and successful people is a desire - like, if you really want something, you go after it. This may be an obvious question right now, before the olympics, but what do you REALLY WANT to accomplish? from: Bora's Buddy!I want to have the feeling of success, for myself. It doesn't mean I have to drive the best car or have the biggest house or even be known as the best BMXer ever. At the end of the day, I need to feel like I accomplished everything I wanted to and have a feeling of genuine success (as I see it) for my life. |
|
Do you Train everyday on your bike? from: Sut'DogI'm on my bike nearly every day. I don't necessarily do on-bike training every day, but since I don't have a car, I have to ride to the gym, etc... |

I'm opening a new track in my town. Well actually re-opening an old track and breathing new life into it. How would I go about attracting/informing riders about the track? from: SIBMXThere are plenty of ideas that most track directors do not use for some reason. Partner up with a local bike shops, this will help them as well as to attract kids to your track. Two pocket books are better than one. Go to all the elementary schools in your town and talk about BMX Racing or have them schedule field trips out to the track. You can also use the bike shop for this one to allow kids to test out the track (of course safety/insurance issues arise with this one, but it's a great tool). Get in the newspaper, either by ads or have writers come out to report on this great sport. I'm sure writers would love the story of BMX coming to elementary schools and for there being a community day out at the track. |

Why you are not training right now?, ha, ha, ha
Oh well that is the life of a superstar from: GermanMy trainer said take a few weeks off. Haha. |
|
Did you really help design the Napa track? from: Sut'DogYes sir I did. |
|
How did you Master the Bike trampoline skills? from: Sut'DogI've always wanted to do sweet tricks on my bike but it's not going to happen so I built up a trampoline bike. I guess if I would practice tricks on my real bike as much as I do on the trampoline I might be able to pull them off. |

how do you feel about "online trainers" that can't actually see where your weak and strong points are, but rather go by what you tell them. even though you may not really have an acurate idea yourself. or about cookie cutter programs that are also now available from: s4lnjI sort of have an "online trainer." My trainer lives in Colombia, so he sends me my schedules by email every week. I have known him for many years but may only see him 5 times a year at races. We started out by him having me do specific tests which would tell him where I was at in my physical strength and that would dictate how he would have my training progress. I just give him reports on how I'm feeling and of course my results tell him as well. As far as "cookie cutter" programs online, I think as long as you find the individual making the programs has knowledge and experience in BMX, you'll be all right. There are many BMX veterans who can make solid training programs based on their experiences. |

Hi Donny - do you know where I might be able to find a BMX belt buckle? You rock - I totally think you should be a male model! from: Hilary NoviceYou should talk to, I think she is called my publicist, she can tell you where to get one. Heard she's kinda bossy though. ;) |

Hey Donny,
Did you here of Joey Bradford's (not that geek that races in Prunedale) recently launched foundation to help injured athletes? Check it out at: www.JoeyBradfordDisabilityFund.org
I watched Tara Llanes' video on go211.com just now from: Dean MeyerJoey showed me his website. That idea has been around for a while now, but for Joey to actually go out and do it, makes him that much more rad of a dude. Joey knows how to do it right for sure. |
|
have u ever had more than 1 nockout from: dmanOh yeah for sure. I think I'm up to about 8 or so in my life. I was told by doctors after the second time that if I got anymore I would need to stop racing, but do extreme athletes ever listen? Haha. |

I have 4 boys...and my 10 year old is very interested in BMX. I would like to get him tickets to a BMX "tour" - "competition". Do you know of any in coming up in the Phoenix, AZ area? Also, are there any web sites that have BMX clothing, photos, bedding etc.??? from: Tracy MachajewskiWell get them out to a track! Here are the basics. All BMX races are free admission (even the nationals) so I'd start out with scouting ABABMX.com and NBL.org where you will find locations of local tracks and national events(plenty in the PHX area) and the dates. The best place to get BMX goodies are at the races themselves. Next national your way will be in Goodyear, AZ Jan. 25-27 2008. Come check it out, I should be there. |
|
what do you think is a good bike for street and dirt from: jimmybadassGeesh, I couldn't tell you the best answer for that. I'd go with what the big dogs do well on. Obviously, the Mirra's, Cranmer's, Guettler's and Dhers' could win on anything they ride, but they have serious input in the development of their bikes, so look to them for the sweetest rides. |
|
song and dance....let me see, what are the tunes u r listening to when u ride>?? from: JSPORTIt all depends...
Am I riding hard or just having fun? If it's a hard ride I could do Eminem or something like that (gotta get pumped up). If I'm just out having fun or cruising, I could always go with the smooth acapella group of Rockapella. |
