I Live in san clemente its southern california so its probably the warmest of california. Right now its pretty cold at 56 degree's but it wont get any colder than that. sometimes it can get as low as 52 but that is very rare. |

23. your last name is kinda like lockness, are you a monster in the water? from: Chad DeGrootI love my last name... people call me the lockness monster for sure. usually it is just the contest anouncers trying to be funny. most people who are friends with me call me loosey or fish.... |

21. Surfing is so fun, and pacifying, and everyone seems to say its about having a great time with your friends. That being said, localism and vibing seem to be a somewhat accepted aspect of surf culture. What's your take on this? from: ikgig 2008I agree Surfing is about having fun and being close to mother nature. I've been plenty of places in the world where localism is a big problem. In some ways I agree with the angry locals but in some cases I think it is really lame. If some kook shows up to a break and disrespects the local surfers I would agree with the locals having the right to be angry. What I don't like is when you get some idiot screaming at you to not even paddle out somewhere for no reason, like they own the beach or the waves. I think that is arrogant and everyone should be able to enjoy the ocean and be close to mother nature. Localism is a fine line to argue about in surfing but that is my take on it. |

20. what is your favorite surf spot? from: alxskaterMy favorite surf spot is Macaroni's. It's a perfect left in the mentawai islands of indonesia. The wave is so perfect that it literally breaks the same every time like a machine. |
19. Where was your first surf trip to? from: max pechonisMy first real surf trip was to Puerto Escondido, Mexico when I was 15. It was the first time I ever went on an airplane too. I had just started riding for billabong and back then they would do a grom trip to mexico every summer. So I got on the team and went down with a bunch of groms and a few of the older pro's. It was so fun. I had never surfed or seen waves that good so it was really a cool experience. |
18. What is your favorite surf break? from: max pechonisI really like Macaronis in indonesia. Perfect ruler edge waves. you get the same section every time so its good for trying new tricks. You can also get really long barrels. Pretty much the best wave on earth. |
17. does ur flexibility surfing help in the bedroom ? from: alexkaye.Well my good friends know me as one of the least flexible surfers out there. I can barely touch my toes. I really should do some yoga. |

You want to go golf today? from: Nate YeomansI want to do more moves above the lip. Im influenced by Clay and Dion. They are doing some rad lip slides. I don't do to much spinning and sliding in my turns on the lip so lets surf T-street and get to it! Would love to golf but wedding is just around the corner and there is to much that needs to be done with little time. Rain check! |

14. YeAH ripper. So since the new years coming up, WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR 2009? also do you have any new tricks your working on or want to pull for 09. Happy new year! from: Nate YeomansWhat up Nate Dawg. My goals for 09 are to kill it on the WQS and do all the 6 star prime events. hopefully qualify to be on the WCT tour in 2010. Also I want to have some sick waves in the new Reef movie that is going to start filming in 09. |
13. What is your favorite surf spot? from: BenMy favorite wave is Macaronis in the mentawai islands of indonesia. The wave is a perfect left that brings so ruler edge that you would think it was machine made. Its fun because you get the same section on every wave making it perfect for trying the same move over and over until you perfect it. Good for airs and carves. |
12. what or who inspired you to become a surfer? from: BenI grew up in san clemente and pretty much everyone who lives here surfs. When I was 7 years old my neighbor down the street got me into surfing. I stood up my first wave and rode all the way to shore and I was hooked. Its like nothing else in the world. |
11. What do you think about the wii fit? from: Christa AlvesI have heard of it but have not tried it. My mom has wii and I went to get that game for her but it was sold out. I got her wii music instead. Wii is awesome though so Im sure its sick. I like to play tennis and the boxing is cool too. |
10. How does surfing and the ocean inspire your art? from: Josh PattonA lot of my most recent art has waves in it so being a surfer and traveling around the world surfing different spots gives me different perspectives on all kinds of beaches and waves. The other element to most of my paintings are animals. I don't really gather inspiration for that from the ocean or surfing except when Im painting fish. I guess the animals just come to mind. I then look at pictures of them and go from there. Its hard to really describe perfectly how a person gets inspiration.... Hope that answered at least a little bit for you. |
9. yeah buddy!! How did you get the nickname "Looseness"? from: Cheyne MagnussonYo Cheyne, Nice Q bro. I think it just rhythms well with Losness. I have a bunch of names just cause it so easy to make other names and just add ness to the end. Plus I'm a loose canon. Get me fired up and I'm ready. I think my surfing is a bit wierd and loose too. |
8. What is your take on Big Waves? from: Chad DeGrootI think Big waves are a rush. It's fun and challenging to surf them. I don't surf the crazy stuff at mavericks or do tow in surfing but I respect the guys that do. One wipeout on a wave like that would crush me. The guys who surf crazy huge waves are like gladiators. I think its sick! |
7. WHATS THE BEST PLACE YA GOT TO VISIT AND WHY?? from: mark mulvilleThis is a tough question because I've been to so many amazing places in my life. I guess I would have to say Bali, Indonesia. It is the one place that I keep going back to sometimes 3 times a year. I love it because it is rich in culture, food, nice people, awesome weather and tons of really good waves. For me it was my dream trip that i went on for the first time about 7 years ago and I keep going back. |
6. What did you ask for Christmas??? from: BMXI didn't ask for much because I already have everything pretty much everything I need. I asked for a new travel size alarm clock from my mom. New pajamas are always a Christmas must have. I always just ask my mom for an amazing Christmas breakfast and that's enough for me. |
5. What do you love/hate about contest surfing? from: Tricia ByrnesI love competing against my peers because I am a competitive person and it helps my surfing from a competitive stand point. Also The feeling you get from winning is kind of an addicting feeling. It's a great feeling when you know you gave it your all and you come out on top. Like hard work paying off. The things I don't like about competing are obviously the losing part. It sucks to travel across the globe to bomb out in your first heat. Also the waves on the WQS tour are not that great and the line up is always packed with hungry competitors. |
