how old were u when u turned pro. also what is the best place have u surfed. from: alxskaterI was 18. I would say the best place for just surfing Is Indonesia for sure. I also really like Australia. The night life is really fun there and the people are pretty laid back. Its a really cool place to do a road trip because there are so many good waves and plenty of places to camp. n8
i here a lot that surfing in the tube of the wave is one of the greatest things ever. is this true? from: Derek Harlfinger #800Its insane, and its one of those things that you have to experience. So go out there and get tubed and you will know why they say, "only a surfer knows the feeling"
If you were in the middle of a heat and saw a shark would you get out of the water, go on and keep surfing, or would they delay the heat? from: Josh PattonActually this year in western Australia at the contest they spotted a shark and put the contest on hold for a couple hours. As for me, I'm not sure what I would do and I don't want to have to find out. If it was a big shark I think I would be out of there. I hope I not jinxing myself for the next contest. I don't eat shark so my theory is they wont eat me!!!!!!
which guys from the QS are locked in for the WCT next year? from: GreenwoodI think at this point in the year its still hard to say. They say if you get over 11000 points that you should qualify. I think Nathaniel Curran just went over the 11000 mark and they are saying he should qualify for the WCT 2009. Right now I have 8700, so I need one more big result and I will be in the WCT for 2009.
With GO211 webcasting the US Open of surf all over the world. Whats it like to know that not only that beach is watching you, but people from all around the world? Do you feel the pressure or just go out and ride? from: ScottI try not to think about it and just go out there and do what I know I can do. If anything I think it gets me more amped because I know that there are so many people watching. Its really cool because when I'm away I will get messages from people at home writing in. The announcers will read it on the mic and say Nate your Mom and Dad are watching from home and are routing you on. its really rad to know that there cheering for you when you are on the other side of the world.
You've had a pretty amazing year, what has been your most satisfying result? from: Tricia ByrnesThe last two contest on the WQS tour has been my best results this year. There was a 6 star in the Maldives, and then followed by another 6 star in Durban South Africa. I finished 5th place in both contest. Before those 2 contest I was in 25th place on the ratings and after those results I now sit in 9th place. The Durban contest marked the halfway point of the year on the WQS. to be in the top 10 now shows that a birth into the WCT is a reality and all my hard work is paying off.
What country has the best tan? from: Tricia ByrnesI would say Brazil. First off they dont leave much covered up. the girls are basically half naked so there is much that isn't getting sun. The time of year the contest are down there is during our winter. So when I so up I'm usually neon white and stand out like a soar thumb. So they look extra tan compared to me.
What song won you the title of San Clemente Karaoke Champ, and will you please sing a few bars of it on the live webcast? from: Tricia ByrnesI don't have just one song I have a arsenal of songs.
What kind of music do you play on your guitar? from: Tricia ByrnesA lot of classic rock. I have been playing a lot with the Guadaskas brother trio. They always bring there guitar on the road and there is usually a bit of down time when traveling. We have some epic free style jams.
What is part of your daily training regime, is 12 ounce curls or actual dumbbells? from: Tricia ByrnesThe first thing is surfing as much as possible. then I have been working on my cardio and strengthening my chicken legs. I stretch a lot also. So no dumbbells or 12 ounce curls. My guns are already lethal, and don't need any work.,..
