E replied to OntarioBoarder's post on Feb 28, 2008 at 01:06 AM You know what, as much as I agree with you, I personally prefer the site being in its newbie stages. Imagine, if thousands upon thousands of people accessed this site, sure you would have more interaction on the forums with random & often lame people, but at the same time, there would be less interaction between the pros and aspiring pros.
Like right now, a lot of the pros actually comment on people's pages BECAUSE there are like 3 people who access this site. But as soon as this site gets bombarded, which I predict it will once the winter olympics rolls around (which is 2 years away but still!) or the next x-games, or whatever competition, the intimacy between various people will get lost. That's why I'm so tempted to like.. friend as many pros as possible while I can (gotta catch them all you know what I mean?) before they hit it really big, because once they hit big, they don't respond to your messages and would only do the basic minimum like friend you. Either that, or have a generic message be sent to you automatically by the computer or perhaps a robotic person.
What makes this site so much better than the rest, especially a lot better than the pros' personal homepages, is that you get to see them interact with each other and you have a way higher shot of getting to know them as a person since the "Team" is currently pretty aggressive in luring unsuspecting victims by most likely requiring the pros to friend people, or respond to their comments. Honestly, 25% of the reason why I troll around this site is because I like the sport, but a good 75% is because I want to get to know the pro as a human being.
Maybe I digressed slightly. But... I too have a 9-5 job and WORD about the company blocking. HAHA! |
