The Rip Curl Pro Search Chile is Stop No. 4 of 10 on the 2007 Foster's ASP World Tour. Boasting a one-of-a-kind floating license that enables the event to set up shop at a different world-class wave each year, the third-annual Rip Curl 'Search' will next head to the Northern Chilean village of Arica from June 20-July 1, 2007. Located just south of Peru in South America, the city of Arica is home to a wave known as "El Gringo", although unanimously considered the "Chilean Pipeline."

Andy Irons, wins his second straight Ripcurl Search Pro, two years in a row not bad . It's funny watching this event unfold over the course of the week, my picks for who was going to win changed on a daily basis but there were definitely those few surfers who stood out. Knowing these are the top surfers in the world, anyone of them is capable of winning but there are a few who really shone in nearly every heat they were in win or lose. Andy was one of them, so I guess it shouldn't be too much of a surprise that he won. It's just that this week seemed to belong to Mick Fanning, I will have to wait and see what really happened on "el gringo" seeing as how I was waiting for my delayed plane to leave the tarmac while this was all unfolding, note to self.....next time book your flight for the full contest window, although it seemed that the guys that got eliminated in previous heats were all on my flight, til next time......t.
