So I just recently left Quebec City, Canada for a World Cup Halfpipe, and Big Air event. And when I say recently, I mean I am literally sitting on the plane right now.
The trip was super fun all around as far as shredding and kicking it in the city goes. As for the contest and judging however, it was boarder line terrible. Every one of us Americans landed super clean, technical runs that were all more than deserving of making the finals. Apparently not according to the judges. In fact, only one American ended up making the finals, but even he qualified close to last place. I actually ended up missing the finals by one spot… Awesome?
As bummed as I was about my luck that day, I pushed it behind me and focused on redeeming myself in the Big Air Event. The Big Air jump was actually set up on some scaffolding in the middle of the city, which was really cool. What was not cool however, was the jump itself. It was super windy that day, so the speed was a serious issue. So serious in fact, that I came up short on the jump in practice and got a serious case of whiplash, and a minor concussion. I ended up having to pull out of the contest. I was pretty upset about that, but glad that I wasn’t any more injured.
As for now, I am on my way to Japan with my Friend Dylan Bidez. We will be doing the Burton Asian Open, and the FIS Jr. World Championships that we qualified for. I am pretty ridiculously pumped right now, because I’ve never been anywhere in Asia before!!! I’ll be sure to be a complete tourist and take photos of everything and tell you all about it!
Take care people,
