Female, St Cloud, MN 224 Last Login: Jan 3, 2009 02:52 PM | | I race BMX and I am the current ABA Women's Pro National Champion. I am a 4-time Amateur National Champion. I am the '07 UCI World Champion. I'm gonna train real hard and go for the gold in the 2012 Olympics in London.
"Hailing from small town, middle America (St Cloud, Minnesota to be exact), Alise Post is the most successful female BMX racer to ever swing her leg over a bike. Alise started racing BMX at the age of 6 and immediately fell in love with the sport. Her older brother Nick was an avid racer and pushed to get her started in the sport. After a few practice sessions, Alise entered her first race and won, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Her love of racing pushed her to win her first Girls Overall National Championship at the age of 10, beating out thousands of other girls for the title. Just to make sure no one thought it was a fluke, Alise repeated the feat three more times. Alise finished up her amateur career with well over 100 National victories and numerous Local, State, Regional and World Championship titles.
Needing a new challenge, and despite the season being well under way, Alise decided to make the jump to the pro ranks mid-season in 2006. She turned 15 three months prior, the minimum age to enter the Pro category. After taking two thirds in her first two races, it didnt take her long to win her first race, finding the top of the podium in just her third try. Alise finished up with 5 wins for the season, enough to earn her the Women's Pro National Championship in her rookie year. At 15 years of age, Alise is the youngest to ever win the Pro Championship. And, the icing on the cake, Alise was also voted "Rookie Pro of the Year" (an honor that had been exclusively reserved for males) by the readers of BMX'er Magazine.
So far in 2007, Alise already looks to be the odds-on favorite to repeat as the National Champion, making her only the third Woman to win it in back-to-back years.
But, Alise has loftier goals. BMX will make it's debut at the Beijing, China Olympic Games in 2008, and despite the fact that she is the best female BMX racer the US has to offer, she will not be invited to attend this race. Alise misses the 19-years-of-age cutoff by about a year. So she will have to wait until 2012 - 5 years to train and focus on Olympic Gold. She will be 21 then, just coming into her prime. She will have the advantage, unlike the riders who will debut in Beijing, of knowing exactly what she is getting into. Expect, as usual, Alise to make the most of her opportunities.
Away from the track, Alise excels at just about everything she tries. An all-star in gymnastics and track as well, Alise has already caught the eyes of several Division 1 colleges while still a high school sophomore. She finds the time between all of her extra-curricular activities to maintain a straight A report card.
At 16, she is smart with a great humor and sensibilty about her. She is confidence personified, without the conceit that you might expect from someone who has achieved so much so soon. Alise knows what it takes to succeed, her drive and work ethic are unparalleled. She is the total package - smart, good natured, outgoing, attractive, and, above all, a champion."

Tue, 26 Feb 2008 - Posted at 11:38:57 PM OK where to start?
I haven't updated since the christmas which is WAY too long and this will NEVER happen again. Promise. Anyways, so many thing have happened since the XMAS classic i don't even know where to start. I guess the most important thiing is that I had my 17TH BIRTHDAY!!! January 17th I had my golden birthday...but unfortuanately I didn't get to celebrate much because it was on a thursday and i had a gymnastics competetion so i was a little busy...oh well. I did get to go to buffalo wild wings 9best restaurant EVER!) and that was sweet. Then I guess the next thing to fill you in on is the race i went to.
i went to Goodyear, AZ for another uci race in late january, about a week after my birthday (I finally got to actually race pro in NBL because i am old enough! haha) anyways, i went to arizona and was riding a little rough but it worked out because even though I got bumped up with the elite ladies I still managed to take in the win and win the NBL race...which was awesome because it got rained out the second day so that win counted as 2 days of wins!! so that was pretty exciting considering I hadn't rode my bike basically all winter...still actually just getting on it. I have a good reason though...gymnastics.
November-February is gymnastics competition season and I love it. I am in the gym Monday-Saturday at least 2 1/2 hours a day and I really think that is whhat helps keep me in shape for bmx even when it is FREEZING cold outside here in Minnesota and riding gets really hard.. anyways, gymnastics was alittle inconsistent this year because I kept falling on my double back flip on the floor exercise but by the end of the season I was figuring it out and the season ended on a high note. My state meet was actually just last weekend. I won the vault state title for the third year in a row, got 5th on barsw, 4th on floor, and my bad beam is what held me down to the second place all around spot on the podium by 2 tenths of a point! My team also did well, we got second for the third year in a row and broke our school record yet again.
A cool thing that happened this gymnastics season was that my two team owners were up in minnesota for a trade show the same weekend as my sections meet (state qualifier) and they were able to come watch me compete in my other sport for the first time and it was really fun. We also went to Fogo de Chau, an amazing brazilian steak house, while they were here. It was a good weekend...even though I was really sick. I came down with what I though had to be strep or mono but the doc said it was just one of those viral things going around and I didn't get any antibiotics or anything so it wook a bit to heal.
Another thing I was up to during gymnastics season was getting acupuncture and and adjustments to my ever-so-beat-up gymnast body. my ankles were the main cause of my pain throughout the season but my back, hips, and knees were all also out of alignment all the time and Dr. metcalf really helped me out with that.
But sadly, gymnastics season is over now. However that does mean I am going to be riding my bike like a mad woman for the rest of the year...that is, after my spring break trip to mexico this next week =) This is my first real vacation in years so I am really excited to just relax for a week and let my body recover. Once I get back though I am one busy lady. I will be going to west Palm beach, FL, the training center in san Diego, Desoto, TX, and Australia, all within 4 weeks....and somehow trying to be in public school at the same time..oh and dont forget track and field season starts when i get back from spring break too...AHHH!!!
Besides all the sports stuff a few other cool things have happened. I was in the paper and on the news numerous times for gymnastics as well as got to be on a local radio station with the mayor this morning.
So, all in all I have had a pretty good time the past few months, lots of exciting things have happened. However, I am ready to be back on the BMX circuit and WILL NOT leave you uninformed of the hectic life that lies ahead of me. check back soon! |
