3rd today... Oct 31, 2009 (via twitter)
florida day one (Sat, 15 Mar 2008 Posted at 12:43:22 AM)
I'm at a race again! it almost feels weird..but I love it! My dad and I got in late last night, got lost a couple times, drove up to the hotel, and took forever to find the seemingly non existent check in desk. Turns out the lobby is in the ihop that's not even connected to the hotel...who would've known? and besides our ghetto hotel, West Palm seems to be a pretty ritzy area...i swear EVERYONE drives a nice car. it was good weather today and should be tomorrow again so that will be nice. The only uncool part was the humidity but oh well, I guess a little B.o. and some sweat never hurt anybody.
After getting registered, eating the breakfast of champions (mcdonalds), and having a crappy practice the third round of moto sheets to get posted were final and the races were off to a predictably late start. i got bumped up to elite women again this weekend and i am not gonna lie I was actually a little bit nervous. I didn't feel too hot on bike in practice and it was definitely showing in rounds. Though it got better, I could definitely tell that i haven't been riding enough. It just felt like me and my bike were working opposite of eachother rather than with eachother. Come main time I was hoping i had it figured out enough to get the job done but it didn't work out. I ended up in second which isn't horrible but I was a little bummed because I had the holeshot I just let Jill Kintner's elbow down the first straight ge tthe best of me and i was never able to recover from it. I am ready for tomorrow though. In jr men there was a bawl up but Denzel stein made his way back to the top slot before the line to take in the victory. And in Elite mens, who else besides Kyle bennett? Day was actually riding pretty good but crashed in the second turn pretty hard, and Kyle just took it from there.
After the races I had to spend a good half hour drug testing and doing awards, longest ever so far for me. Then once that was all finished up we were off to dinner. Earlier in the day heather nocickis of octagon surprised me and it was really nice to have finally met her in person and get to know her. She has been the big connection to the agency for the bmx side of things and it was a good deal to see her at a race. So after the drug testing and i was ready to go, joey, liam, my dad, heather, and i went to a nice dinner and had a good time chatting and getting to know eachother. after dinner we
were off to wal mart to get a little shopping done for tomorrow and then back to joey and liam's hotel to look for jerry and "team china". Earlier a girl on the chinese team had crashed hard and had a concussion and seperated her shoulder. Thankfully it got popped back into place on the spot and she will hopefully be riding in a week. when we couldn't find them my dad droped me joey and liam off downtown at this really cool mall where we played with the cool stuff in Brookstone and watched the movie "never back down" in this old fashioned theatre. it was really fun and the movie was AWESOME, i HIGHLY recommend it. anyways, after that jerry and my dad picked us up and here i am.
to keep updated check back tomorrow and watch the live feed of the race. for now though, I need to hit the hay.
