US OpenPosted at 12:08:26 AM
This year was the 25th anniversary of the us open. It is one of the longest running events in snowboarding. This one was memorable for me because I did well, but also because of the epic weather conditions. in the days prior to the event we had every type of weather condition possible it went form T-shirt weather(hot), to pouring rain which later turned to ice and then it froze up the day before the event. the shape of the pipe was really good it was just rock solid, which is kinda my style. but wait there's more ... it snowed aft the morning of the pipe. leaving the flat bottom filled in with drifts of snow. hats of to the pipe crew and volunteers who worked so hard to dig it out. the contest finally started at 11. it looked grim at first as the pipe was still snowy and the walls real icy. as the day went on and the more people rode the pipe just got better and better. it was actually really fun by the time finals started. i just wanted to put together a good clean run, i knew the other girls were riding technically better then me. i was gona just try to go big. after the first run they put me in first, the other girls rode great, but my amplitude held up. i had counted my self out for winning the us open again. i don't know i just did not think i had it in me. it is an honor for me to have won that event 3 times now, no other girl has done that |
