Donny's sweet life continues... (Mon, 24 Mar 2008 Posted at 12:54:44 AM)
Great news comin' at ya this month. From the beginning...
Newest sponsors for me to report are Kellogg's, Hershey's and Hyper Bicycles. How Grrrrrreat! is that?
Over the past few weeks I have done:
-Interview/photo shoot for the NY Times Styles section which should be out in next month or so. Pumped on this for sure.
-Interview/photo shoot for Reuters. http://www.reuters.com/article/sportsNews/idUSL1292219820080319
-Photo shoot with Hyper Bicycles. Big things coming from this partnership...
-An event with Johnson & Johnson down in San Diego. This event was really cool. A few athletes from the Chula Vista training center went with me to what was actually a team building exercise for a division of 200 J&J employees. We ended up building bicycles together, but what was awesome is that after we built the bikes, 30 kids from a less fortunate part of So-Cal were brought in and we gave them the bikes!
-I had another Olympic points race in West Palm Beach, Florida. I got a 2nd and a 4th. I still sit second in the Olympic points chase but for the separate NBL points series, I have taken over the lead. Confusing, I know...
-After the West Palm race I was supposed to stay in Florida until Tuesday and fly to Midland, Michigan for a Dow Chemical event. I'll make this fiasco short. It all started with my shuttle driver to the airport arriving 20 minutes late. From there I had a middle seat to Detroit, then after I got off the plane I found out my flight to Midland had been cancelled and the next flight wasn't until 7:45pm. It's 12pm now, I need to be in Midland at 6pm. I decided I would rent a car and drive to Midland, which was 2 hours away. I requested my bags be pulled from holding so I could get going. To make a long story shorter, I waited until 5pm in Detroit baggage with no bags arriving for me. I decided to make a flight home that night since I wouldn't have been able to make the Dow event. Turns out, right before I left they told me that my bags had not been pulled and they were on the oversold 5:15pm Midland flight and were already in Midland. I was mad because if I would have just drove myself without my bags I could have picked them up at the airport and made the event. Then after I arrived home in Sacramento I was left a message saying the flight that my bags were on were diverted to another city because of bag weather and never arrived in Midland. Looks like it was meant to be. I got home Tuesday night and received my bags back from the airlines on Friday night. Stellar. Hopefully, I can make it up to the Dow folks soon for not being able to attend.
-In Florida I started filming for my USA Today/Mojo Series and they continued filming last week at my house. I had a blast with this shoot, as we filmed in my local grocery store, at the gym and eating lunch with the family. The great producer will make it an awesome piece which will air on the Mojo HD channel in early August.
-Check out AmazingAwaits.org and connect to me! Be my friend and make my chain of supporters long! Just head to the site and leave me messages. You'll see what it's all about when you get there.
I leave for Dallas, TX and Australia for a couple races and then to Chicago for the Olympic Media Summit all in the next 4 weeks.
Thanks
