Going to the Olympics

Posted at 03:00:00 PM

Perhaps a bit anticlimactic to last weeks Olympic team news (for those of you who haven't heard I am going to the Olympics!), let's start from the most recent activity in my memory.
Monday night I returned home from Austin, TX where I did a way pro at&t shoot.  The video and photos that were shot will be used for a few different things apparently but mostly in conjunction with an Olympic themed music video/song at&t is putting together with the band Three Doors Down.  Look for it in the coming month.
Go to McDonalds!  My cups and bags are out.  Donny's picture is on McDy's cups and bags.  It's unreal, and such a huge privilege.  Speechless.
I flew to TX from Prunedale, CA where there was a regular NBL national.  Friday night I was able to go to a Brad Paisley concert which also featured artists- Jewel, Chuck Wicks and Julianne Hough.  Since Hershey sponsors Brad, I was able to get a sweet hookup with backstage passes and great seats.  Thanks to everyone who made that a great night for my family and I.  The race didn't go quite that well.  I got 6th on Saturday and crashed on Sunday.  Before the race I took a whole week off.  No riding, no stretching, no training and no healthy food.  I needed the break.
June 17th was my birthday.  Yay!  I'm officially in my mid-twenties.  But no birthday break for me.  People Magazine came to my house that day and did a photo shoot.   Believe the mag will be coming out August 6th.  Will keep you posted.  Pretty psyched on the photos they took.  It was a good birthday for me.
June 14th the first ever BMX Olympic Trials were held in Chula Vista, CA.  Knowing what I know now, I'm not too disappointed on the outcome, however I wish I would have had some smoother laps.  I ended up placing 2nd.  1st place and an Olympic spot went to Mike Day.  Congrats to him for the day he had.
And pre June 14th I was able to do a story with ESPN The Magazine.  Super reporter Alyssa Roenigk came to my house and we spent fine day talking.  Story should be hittin' soon.  I'll let ya'll know.
Nothing else going on at the moment except for training and that is a welcomed activity.  Will keep you updated on my happenings!
Thanks
Donny Robinson
