I did come home with the Bronze Medal in the first ever BMX Racing event held at the Olympic Games.
Psyched!
I really think BMX Racing put on a great show (thanks to NBC's awesome coverage) and I hope we can keep up the momentum and bring this sport, and hopefully my face, mainstream.
I also just returned from the Dew Action Sports Tour in Salt Lake City, Utah this past weekend where I also placed 3rd. The race aired on NBC.
Heading to New York and Vegas over the next couple weeks for a few dinner events and the big Interbike show, then heading to France for the last World Cup event of the year, where I am currently leading points.
Few good things from the past months:
(Top 25 marketable Olympians. Donny is #21)
(My part on Mad Money show with Jim Cramer!)
(BMX medalists from Beijing on Today)
(Interview from 11 years ago)
BMX medalists Mike Day, Jill Kintner and I were on the Oprah "Welcome back Olympians" show that aired last week. I think even more cool was that I went to lunch afterwards with swimmer Natalie Coughlin, our agent Janey Miller, and the lovely ladies from Kellogg.
On September 6th and 7th I went to the ABA National in Reno, NV. I came just to hang out and sign autographs, which I did for 3 hours, but the ABA also did a big presentation for me, which I am very thankful for. It was a lot of fun to hang out and see all the kids again. That same Sunday I received a key to the city of Napa during a summer festival that was going on, where I again signed autographs for another hour or so (luckily I had a few hundred at&t posters left to sign). And actually 9/16/08 was proclaimed Donny Robinson Olympian Day in Napa!!! I am so thankful to have these honors.
I met Vince Vaughn on the flight home from Beijing and FMX legend Mike Metzger at the Dew Tour in Salt Lake. It's so rad being able to meet famous people...
Thanks again to everyone and I really hope to get that Gold in 4 years in London, but let's plan on making big splashes before then ok?
