I wanted to try and hit everyone before their Christmas vacations.
Just finished the final race of the 2008 season in Tulsa, OK. I did finish in 8th, which is far off point for me, but considering I took a nice 2 month break after The Games, I wasn't too hard on myself. Although, trying to get my fitness back for 2009 has me regretting taking that long break haha.
2008 was the best year of my life- so far. The most amazing experiences happened this year and it was because all of you made it happen for me. Some of you have been with me since my first race 19 years ago and many of you have just come into my life this year. It's crazy to think I would be at this point in my life. Bottom line, all of you allow for me to live my dream of racing my bicycle. Because of that, I have the opportunity to help this sport grow, influence kids and even if just a little, help my sponsors sales increase because kids may want to eat or ride or dress or talk the way Donny does. I just ride my bike and try to put in great results and be a role model to kids, but that means nothing without support from others. Successful people are only successful because other people gave them chances and I realize that.
Now, it's time for a sweet Christmas!
Few pictures below that I haven't sent you yet:
*Olympics. This is the final qualifying race. I needed to finish 6th place or better. I crashed and was in 8th place. I got up and finished the race, passing two other crashed riders, but I had to do it with my visor in my face. Check it out! The visor is in my face! Biggest jump on the track and Matt Hodges from the China Daily snapped this great shot. 35 feet and I can't see a dang thing.*
*Bob Costas, Mrs. Dick Ebersol and myself at the Right to Play Gala in NYC in September. You'll notice Dick over Bob's right shoulder. I think he's playing Bob's good conscience.*
*My table at the gala.*
Thanks you,
Donny Robinson
