Straight from the Rock The Universe in Orlando, I went to Chula Vista, CA for the Supercross World Cup race. This race had some new flair. Even though it was held at the Olympic Training Center, on the same track that we had our '08 Olympic Trials on, this race took it to a new level. The atmosphere was hot and the laps were done under the lights, which we have never done before. Props to everyone who organized this race, I can't wait until it comes again next year. I got 2nd in the time-trials but unfortunately, I had less than perfect laps in the race and was kept out of the final by a .01 photo finish. Still, the race was epic. The National BMX Hall of Fame also added their 2009 induction ceremony to the events schedule that saw the "Who's who" of BMX's past and present making appearances, including MX champ Jeremy McGrath.
After Chula Vista I went directly to Las Vegas for the annual Interbike trade show. Only one thing needs to be spoke about here. The Signature "Donny Robinson" Hyper BMX Bike. Available in Spring 2010, this bike will hopefully bring myself and the sport to a new level. More details coming soon that will psych all of you up too, so stay tuned! Check out the photos of it. We can do big things with this! Between Mike Spinner and myself, Hyper Bikes will have the BMX race and freestyle markets covered and will be making a big splash. NORA Cup (Number One Rider Awards) were held once again in Vegas at the Mandalay Bay this time. No surprise, they made the Racer award look as dumb as possible. One of these days someone is going to realize what you make look stupid, kids will think is stupid.
The day after I got home from Vegas my best friend got married. I'm next in 1 month. Crazy how we were just 12 years old...
