After SLC Dew Tour I had about two weeks off before I headed to the South of France for the last stop on the Supercross World Cup tour. The break I had was definitely nice but I had to keep focused going into France because it was going to take a radical miracle to come out with the overall Supercross series victory. Because of how SLC went down I lost valuable points to Robert Dewilde and instead of being just a couple points behind him, I was now like 15 behind him, which meant I would have to win in France and he would have to not make the main. Since I won this race last year I knew that was possible but being how consistent Bob is, I knew it was going to be a long shot.
I upgraded myself to Business Class over to France, which, since I never spend any money, that is a way to pamper myself a bit. This part of France (near Monaco) is my favorite place of all time so far and I always enjoy the atmosphere. The track was nearly the same as last year and I liked it a bunch. Things were pretty uneventful, so I'll get to the racing.
I qualified around 14th and was ready to get going with the motos. In my motos I placed 1st, 1st and 3rd which meant I made it to the quarters. In the quarter I had a good lap and won that. My semi was pretty hard and a few mistakes kept me out of the main. I missed qualifying by about a foot, which is pretty tough on me. I was still technically the highest placing American (with a 9th place) but that really just means we all had bad laps. There could have easily been an all-American main at this race...
Because I didn't even make the main that meant I couldn't win the Supercross title. I did come away with a 2nd place overall for the series which is still decent- Robert deserved his overall victory.
I came home for 4 days before heading to Vegas for another round of North American Series. On Saturday everything was good and I finished 2nd. On Sunday however, in the semi I spun a little out of the gate and was last going down the first straight. Something happened over the second jump and I went over the bars. This crash should have left me much more hurt than I am. I haven't crashed this bad in a long time, good thing for my FLY helmet. Check out the video. You'll know where I crash...
My next race isn't until Thanksgiving at the ABA Grands but I have many media deals going on before then that I'll report on.
Thanks
