Wow, Saturday was a looong day. Skate Street (park) Prelims was up first and BMX Street (park, I say!) got the ball rolling forfinals followed up by a crazy Skate Vert final. In between sessions we were entertained by the musical stylings of American Idol's Blake Lewis. Then we finished the night off with a lil' somethin by Ludacris.
BMX Street
Of course of everyone was predicting that Daniel Dhers would run away with this contest. Not so fast, pardner. Youngster Garrett Reynolds showed up in Dallas to play nearly edging Double D for the top qulaifying spot. Enter Morgan Wade. The Texas local, who isnt really known for landing a ton of tricks, made it show for the hoemtown crowd. He STOMPED a flawless second run, including an insane 30' step-up transfer from 6-foot box jump to a 6' quarter with a 4' extension. All this 15' in the air. Yikes! So the Texan took home a cool $30k, not bad for a few hours, huh? The Venezuelan took home the Silver and Garrett Reynolds nailed the third.

BMX Vert
How is it possible that Bucky Lasek has never pulled a 720 or that Neil Hendrix has never nailed a McTwist? Crazy. Well, that was the highlight of the night, possibly more than the contest itself, watching these two old-guard vert riders try to nail their respective great white whales. Well, both came oh-so-close but never landed one, with Hendrix finally falling to chin plant on his last attempt. Neil walked around the rest of the evening holding a napkin on his chin, apparently needing stitches.
The contest itself? Ive never seen more crashes in vert contest. Everyone went down at least one run, with the majority of the first round ending in crashes. As usual PLG was on point and took home the victory followed by Youngster Alex Perelson in second. Perelson at age 16, just goes HUGE every round, consistently around 8-9 feet out. Between Perelson and Dennis Enarson, whats up with these 16 year old San Diegans? Must be something in the Robertos tacos. Vert stalwart Andy Mac grabbed the third spot. Gotta mention Danny Mayers kickflip McTwist, siiiick.
Skate Street
Brazil looks strong at this event with 5 of the top 10 qualifiers. Young stud Danilo de Rosario grabbed the top spot with Wagner Ramos in the two spot and Greg Lutzka (chant USA here), rounded out the top 3.
Ludacris
Chilled at the Luda concert with lil Mitchie Brusco, Scotty Cranmer, and Daniel Dhers. Luda rocked it, way more than Kanye. Oh and boobies. Thats right, you heard me correctly. One zealous fan accidentally had one of her girls make a cameo appearance on the floor and didnt notice for 10 minutes. Good times.
