Race Day. Practice wasn't until 5pm so i had pretty much allday to chill. When i arrived at the track i watched a few races and then warmed up and got a few laps in during practice. I felt pretty good and was looking forward to racing, as my last race was in september! Out of all the people i elite (140 riders!) i got drawn with Yvan Lapraz! I have raced him for years as we are the same age and had some pretty good racing throughout. I won the 1st and 2nd moto and then finished 3rd in the last. Elite had 1/16ths, and mine wasnt to bad. I had a good gate and 1st straight and went into turn 1 on the outside of Martijn Scherpen. Van der Putten came under me and i finished 3rd. 1/8ths are no joke in europe, allier, guitterez, heijne, van der berg, caleyron...after a pretty bad gate i was sitting mid pack and there was some carnage in turn 1. i was in 3rd behind van der berg and allier, with guitterez in 4th and was comfortable. i hit something down the 3rd straight, i dont no what maybe a rock or something which sent me all of. I ended up crashing and going out. I was pretty gutted as i couldnt really help what happened. The track is in a bad way with rocks etc. I talked to a guy that was stood inside the track allday and he said that alot of people were hitting the jump the same as me and crashing.
Scherpen and Matisons were battling out front and crashed together, leaving the outside riders to go around them and take it home. Sifiso Nhlapo won with Lapraz in 2nd. Good job on your 1st elite race yowth!
Another days racing tomorow so im looking forward to that. Pleased with how i raced today, just one of them things.
