Racing in Goodyear, AZ. (Sun, 27 Jan 2008 Posted at 10:24:56 AM)
Im back in San Diego now. The original plan was to got to Arizona and race the Uci race and then drive back, but we ended up staying an extra night and raced the NBL race on Saturday. Friday went pretty good for me but i couldnt believe i was actually racing an Olympic points race! Im not joking, only about 20 people watching the racing at the most...it felt just like gate practice, very strange and way different to Europe! Anyway, i tranfered out of my motos with 2,3,3 into the quarter. I made it through the quarter with a 3rd into the semi. I had lane 7 and bumbed abit down the 1st straight, was in last and made it upto 6ish into the 2nd turn but tok the turn way to low. On the ext was the pro-section so i had no speed to jump it. Looking back it was a really stupid thing to do, but i guess all i can do is learn from it. Im inexperienced when i comes to racing on pro-sections so it will be something i will have to think about in the future.
On day2 i raced A pro and things didnt get of to well. I was finding it real hard coming out of turn 2, im not sure if it was the line i was taking around the turn or what...but i couldnt even make it over the pro section. My 1st straight felt good so i transfered into semi's. I had a hard semi and got a good 1st straight and was sitting 3rd. Going into turn 2, the rider ahead of me was setting himself up for the best line around the turn and jumped across, taking my front wheel out and i hit the deck. Obviously dissappointed but what can you do? Riders that didnt transfer where myself, Kris Fox, Jim Brown and Jason Morris...Think that shows how hard the semi was for A Pro!
Not alot else to report. I checked the weather for Goodyear today and it says 100% chance of rain so im glad i got out of their!! Saying that, its raining hard in San Diego at the moment...Great.
