Day one, first and second rounds of practice. The temperature was scorching with no wind or breeze to speak of. Team coaches and aides were run off their feet trying to keep the riders hydrated.
Practice started at 9am with the elite women. They hit up everything and most look comfortable on the track.
The elite men were next up for their first round of practice. As expected they all looked fast. GO211 rider Donny Robinson looked focused and was looking like he had things under control. Over the big berm jump, he was messing with it pulling some sweet flatty’s for the photographer’s gallery.
Jonathan "Mosquito" Suarez was pulled up about his jersey being too tight. Under UCI rules your jersey must have a minimum of 3mm of slack otherwise it is considered a body suit type of top. The Mosquito looked comfortable on the track and still has that spring in step after scoring #W8 recently.
GO211 rider from the Great Britain, Liam Phillips quietly went about his business of getting the track dialed. The second practice session for the women was in the middle of the heat, kicking off at 1.30 for an hour. They were followed by the men at 2.30 who had 1 ½ session.
Most riders pulled the plug on practice after an hour. Day two has two more practice sessions. The “Alternate” practice has been shortened and will now become two practice sessions for the qualified Olympic riders.
