PRO SPECTACULAR / NAG 5 CHALLENGE

Posted at 11:34:55 AM

So the Pro Spectacular and NAG 5 Challenge went off last night without a hitch.  Kyle Bennett looked like he was putting on a clinic in the AA Pro class, showing the rest of the boys how its done.  Dont know whats got into Kyle lately, but that boy is just KILLING it.  Danny Caluag didnt help his cause any, coming home with an 8th. In the end Kyle did what he had to do to stay in the hunt, the ABA Pro title has eluded him for years, and he definitely wants this title.   COule be a weekend of firsts - if Kyle wins the title, he would be the first rider in historiy to win the NBL, UCI, and ABA titles in the same year, Danny can be the first rider to win both the ABA AA Pro title and the Pro Cruiser title in the same year.

Alise Post and Marianna Pajon put on a show last night, definitely the race of the evening.  The two didnt race each other in motos or semis, which set up a showdown in the main.  Marianna got balled up coming out of the gate and Alise got one of her patented holeshots and pulled everyone into the first turn.  Pajon finally got free of the pack coming out of turn one, and the race was on.  Pajon pulled close to Post in the second straight, but Alise had the inside line and blocke in turn two.  I bet the whole house was thinking Alise was toast in the rhythm, but she definitely held her own and Pajon didnt gain an inch.  Pajon pulled a last ditch, high-low in the last turn, but it wasnt enough.  Post redeems herself from Orlando.  Stay tuned, folks.  This one is far from over, Sunday's main is only a day away!

In NAG 5 action, the big story was Nic Long not making the main.  In semis he got balled up down the first straight, took the pro section to make up some ground, pulled into the second turn in 3rd, and promptly went down.  Ouch.  In the final it was the two 16 year olds who made the most of the night.  Big Denzel Stein grabbed the win, followed by Sean Lechner, and Josh Meyers.

In NAG 5 girls, Shelbi Long pulled off the win, followed by a hard charging Taylor Wolcott, and Brooke Crain.

More to come, stay tuned!
