Apple of Discord started after a couple of the members met at a Velocity Girl concert in Philadelphia, PA in 1996. Their humble goal was always to put out one good record and have one good tour. A couple of records, countless shows, three guitarists and two drummers later, they're still playing after all these years. Self-sufficient, they ushered their own label, stuck with their gut at their own pace, and never stopped writing beautiful and fragile music that unearthed some of the best lyrics–simple yet breathtaking, and consistently piecing together a sound reminiscent of 10 years ago, but sounding so fresh today. Hints of emo, slow-core, folk and indie are hinted throughout, but we like to refer to it as fragile-indie-pop. Not too fragile to break under it's own weight, nor too pop to become our breakfast sugar.
Apple of Discord create honest and pure music that stands up to the best of their peers and influences alike. Taking musical cues from the American Music Club, Cursive and Sunny Day Real Estate, Southern New Jersey's Apple of Discord were originally known for their explosive arrangements and frenzied guitar. Recent years have seen AOD put an effort into making music that's more about what they say than how they say it. Regardless of the volume, they're going to make music that's as honest as they can give to you. What Apple of Discord lacks in hipster cool or rock star looks, they make up for in energy, spirit and compassion.
