Oslo, Norway – February 13, 2008: TTR recently received breaking news directly from The Swatch TTR SIX(6)STAR Oakley Arctic Challenge event organizers, stating that Finnish rider Risto Mattila is confirmed to be competing in the Quarterpipe competition next week. The news makes a massive change to the TTR ranking predictions that previously stated US rider Kevin Pearce’s hold on TTR World No. 1.
With Risto Mattila present in Oslo, there will be a direct head-to-head battle between Mattila and Pearce for the TTR World No. 1 position. However, according to official TTR ranking calculations, if Kevin Pearce, who won the Arctic Challenge last year, finishes first or second he will have an unassailable lead that cannot be touched at least until the FIVE(5)STAR Nissan X-Trail Nippon Open the week after.
Recently at the FIVE(5)STAR Billabong Air & Style Quarterpipe event in Innsbruck, Austria, Risto Mattila finished 10th while Kevin Pearce walked away with his second Air & Style Title win of the 07/08 season.
