Slackin on the updates here.... but I thought I would give a shout out to Jill, Mikey and The Don for an impressive performance in Beijing.

3 months ago if you had asked me if I would be watching the Olympics from my parents couch I would have laughed, but there I was Thursday 6,000 miles away from Beijing regretting every mistake I made to lose my slot there and anxiously waiting for diving to end so I could see it all play out. 6 minutes of TV coverage didnt do it justice but thank goodness for the internet replay action. Because of the rainout on the scheduled race day I assume BMX got compressed so we could watch team USA drop the baton in the 4x100m TWICE.

In hindsight it was interesting to see the worlds perspective of the sport I love so much. Team USA represented well both on the track and in their interviews and I am proud to have been a part of their journey to get there.

I thought for sure that Mikey would be bringing home GOLD, but lane choice did him in and the Latvian machine didnt leave him any opportunities. Never count out the DON when its main time either and he worked his way through the pack til he pulled in behind Mikey, and well...nobody is going to PASS Mike on that track.

The first corner looked a lot slicker than I remembered it being last year, I guess when medals are on the line nobody is holding back and as much as crashing sucks for us athletes it makes for drama on TV.

Speaking of drama, looks like Shanaze had to much pressure from the Brits to perform, that or she's just so damn fast she couldn't control her speed. 3 crashes in 3 days hurts for sure. She went for it all though in the last corner in the main and props to her for that. Without a doubt she will be back for revenge on her home turf in 4 years. Anne was efficient and in control the whole race, but the biggest props have to go to my hommie Jill who battled her way through carnage from 7th to 3rd. A lot of people underestimated her going in, but if I have learned anything from her the last 8 months its that she will never give up and she's always got some crazy sniper line in her pocket. Her Bronze was much deserved.

Crazy its all over now.... the countdown to 2012 London has already started for me, and hopefully team USA can follow in the footsteps of our first BMX Olympians.
