Sorry for the lack of updating, the last few months have been crazy for me and we have been working on sponsorship stuff for next year but I am excited to be re-signing with the world’s best action sports network: Go211. We have some cool stuff planned for ’09 and I will be back on track with weekly blog updates so be sure to check back.

Its been awhile since I have posted an update so here's whats been up:

After the team selection to Beijing was made I put all of my training energy and focus into the UCI SX World Cup finals in France last October. I was determined to win the overall World title as some sort of reconciliation. It’s not an Olympic medal, but it is my first World title and my highest accomplishment in BMX thus far.  The achievement was far from an individual effort, I couldn’t have done it without the support of my husband and family, USA cycling, the Chula Vista OTC and its staff, my coaches PH and Steve MF Bamel, Jill, Bruce and Will @Formula, ASD, FLY, Cytosport, GO211 and the rest of my sponsors. Thanks also to everyone who sent me encouragement and well wishes along the way.

2008 has been a crazy year for the sport of BMX as it made its Olympic debut. Team USA represented on the world stage bringing home medals and increasing exposure to the sport. Local tracks have seen an increase in new sign ups this year and in a faltering economy it seems BMX is on the rise. The national season wound down last week with the ABA Grandnationals in Tulsa, Ok.  The ABA ramped up the track from its standard set up making it a little more technical and exciting to watch.  I had thought about making an end of season run at the ABA title but fell short trying to do it all last minute.  I peaked out pretty high in France and it was impossible to keep my mind and body from winding down afterwards.  Jill and her boyfriend Bryn tried to teach me how to turn a big wheel bike in preparation for the last JEEP KOM race 4 weeks ago and I went over the bars hyperextending my elbow. I should have hung the season up there but I kept trying to ride so I could race the Grands. No deal, I showed up still injured and out of form resulting in landing on my head Saturday at the race and giving my dome a good ring. My coach decided it was time for “vacation” to let my mind and body recover from intensity of the year so I sat the rest of the race out and watched from the sidelines. Old news now, but Aussie Khalen Young barely beat out Danny C for the AA title, Alise Beast Post hit a pothole in her semi and in a freak accident went over the bars which gave away the Girl Pro title to Dominique Daniels. Nic Long didn’t lose a lap all weekend and retired his amateur career with another #1 and Jordan Nopens took the overall girl title.

Now that I am officially “on vacation” I’m spending some time with my family in Utah waiting for my husband to return from his deployment in Afghanistan next week.  Since the snow is hiding somewhere I have been out on the road bike every day doing some conditioning and enjoying the mountain air until I can start shredding the slopes on my snowboard.  Utah BMX has indoor racing this weekend, they are pulling 51+ motos out there at the Jordan River fairgrounds so if you need some more BMX before Santa comes, check out Utahbmx.com for schedule and info.

Over and Out.
