Just a few months after BMX made its Olympic debut, the Consumer Product Safety Commission passed new regulations requiring all manufacturers of children's toys to test every single paint fleck, nut and bolt on their products for lead. While it is good that Mattel can no longer make infant chew toys with lead, with it BMX bikes have been classified as a CHILD'S TOY.

I am a World Cup Champion of a Professional and Olympic sport. I have put in countless hours every day training for perfection in BMX only to have it now classified as a child's toy. It is my belief that the CPSC has misdefined BMX bikes and those who ride them. If and when this goes into effect in the first week of February, BMX manufacturers (who are small business owners) will be unable to afford the cost to screen their products and make changes to meet the requirements.

My primary sponsor informed me this morning that until this gets sorted they cannot afford to spend money to send me to races.
