Slackin on the updates over here, but ive had a lot of questions from people on how my recovery has been going and when I will be racing so i'll do a quick synopsis.
Two days after the docs casted me I strapped my casts to my road bike and started ripping up the trainer and hitting the gym in a wheelchair. I guess it sounds a little ridiculous but I had nothing else to do and was determined to race Copenhagen to gain some points towards defending my SX title. 5 weeks in the casts and the docs took xrays and said I was good to go. Both heels are "healed" to the point where I can ride and start BMX specific training again.
I flew out here to the OTC in Chula to continue rehab with the awesome sports med team here and dial back in the bike skills for Copenhagen. 3 days of therapy and my feet are feeling so much better. Thanks to my OCD to train in casts my body hasn't deteriorated as much as I thought it would and this morning I handled the track like I hadn't taken a break. My legs are definitely not up to par and a lot of squats and sprints are ahead of me but they will come back soon enough.
Thanks a ton to everyone who sent emails and well wishes on the recovery, it means a lot to have such a great team behind me. Thanks to my husband, my family, GT, all of my sponsors... USAC, my coaches PH and Bamel, and the Sports Med team here in Chula for all the support. Pic is from the most dreaded part of the day: ice bucket.
