Traveling is always such a blowout, the person that invents a drug to automatically re-set our biological clocks when traveling across time zones will be rich. Made it in to Copenhagen yesterday around 2pm, from then on it was just a game to see how long we could stay awake. We cruised over to the track which was all covered in tarps from the .25" rain they have been getting every evening, it was hard to see details but the basic outlines of the jumps were obvious. The track looks pretty technical for the girls which I am excited about, the bar is continued to be pushed for us which I think is great for the sport and I am super excited to ride. Weather is supposed to clear up this weekend so keep your fingers crossed.
In an effort to maximize our Danish cultural experience we went over to the Hard Rock Cafe downtown for dinner, which is most likely where we will eat every night, just like last year. Ironically enough there is probably some rad Danish restaurant right around the corner that people travel the world to eat, but hey, we're American, why venture out? While eating my $20 veggie burger I suddenly became irritated that the English language likes to rename other places instead of sticking with the native name and spelling, Copenhagen being one of them. If the Danes want to call it Kobenhavn why cant we call it Kobenhavn? Even worse, how did we get Germany out of Deutschland? To the English language's defense Spanish calls us Estados Unidos but even that makes more sense than Germany.
Enough of the random rant, today is another test of adjusting to the time zone and tomorrow we will officially start practice.
On a different note, last weekend was Staci Patton's wedding. Staci and I have been buds for over a decade now, for those of you who dont remember her on a bike, she straight killed it in amateur back in the glory days of BMX racing and we've managed to stay close since her retirement. I couldn't have been happier for her on Saturday when she married Scott Hancock, he is quite a stud himself and I wish them the best in their new life together.
Pics below from Staci's wedding and my favorite sign from downtown Copenhagen. They LOVE cycling here, nothing like seeing super old ladies pedaling around groceries on a 50lb bike that was probably assembled the day they were born.
