I feel kind of bad for the Copenhagen event staff; the track is sick, the venue beautiful, but both years we have been here the weather just refuses to cooporate. As I can remember last year there was absolutely no wind, just a lot of rain preceeding the race, but today the wind was all over the place from the back from the side and occasionally felt like it was in circles. I kind of figured we would just have to deal with it but some riders made a good point saying that not only was it dangerous but unfair for time trials because the wind would gust super hard one second and be steady the next, timing of the gust:non gust could potentially affect whether or not a rider could get through the course.
So after about an hour of repeatedly warming up followed by standing around they decided to officially delay it until 3. By that time the wind had decreased somewhat and it was manageable to ride. They are running TT different this year:first 8 women and first 32 men after the first round automatically qualify and cant race the second round while those that didnt cut it have to put everything on the line for the second lap. Shanaze kicked off for the girls and her time held throughout both runs, good thing she just got back aon a BMX bike 3 weeks ago ;). I had a bit of a ball up first run, anticipated a bit more wind down the 2nd straight and over shot the first jump sending me into an unplanned bubba scrub to ball up, chalking the sweet 9th spot and straight to second round. Fortunately I put it together and won the second session setting me 6th overall behind a bunch of Frenchies and Shanaze and Sarah. Lil beasty jumped from 20th all the way to 8th spot second round getting herself into the semis tomorrow where no doubt there will be more beasting going on.
I left before the boys were finished, of the Americans I think it was only Barry, Denzel, and Corban Sharrah that advanced after the first round followed by Long, Herman, Bradford, Fox and Weisendanger in the second. Not sure on placing since I peaced out before they were finished but no doubt Jerry Mania will be on it with official results.
Race time tomorrow is around noonish I think but dont quote me on that, somthing I should probably know. Below pics are of the SWATCH flags about to be ripped off the top of the ramp in the wind, the sign at our hotel that said "Fresh Wind" for today, and the womens TT results.
