In South Africa, just spent our first full day here. The trip out was a real burner 30.5 hours straight of sitting and traveling, the last 4 of which had me wondering why I wanted to come so bad. Once we got here though I didn't regret it. Team logistics guys Ken Whelpdale dialed us in with cottages that are super nice and include kitchens and chefs, monkeys in the courtyard. Not a bad gig. In the spirit of Africa, Joey B sponsored us with a movie "Blood Diamond" to kill some time today, such a reminder of all the turmoil and unrest in this part of the world. We see signs of it here and there... bars on everything, metal detectors going into churches, signs that say "Woman beaten to death in street" but for the most part its pretty nice here and easy to forget that 15 years ago there was such a thing as apartheid.
Internet is spotty, Africa is still a little behind in that department. We are at a hot spot right now and only have a few minutes before its time to roll out, gotta be indoors by dark. We saw the track this afternoon, looks pretty good. The first jump seems small in comparison to the Chula monster but the rest of the track is tight and technical. Should be fun to ramp on Thursday. Tomorrow we head out on a safari adventure to hang out with some African animals, pictures to come soon.
