Perisher Blue Ski Resort, the host of the 2008 Burton Australian Open is the premier ski resort in NSW. Perisher Blue is the largest ski resort in the southern hemisphere. It is the amalgamation of four outstanding Australia ski resorts: Perisher Valley, Smiggin Holes, Guthega and Blue Cow Mountain, all on more than 1250 snow-covered hectares.

2008 EVENT FORMATS

HALFPIPE

MEN’S AND WOMEN’S QUALIFIERS, TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2
• One 60 minute women’s session consisting of 25 competitors.
• One 2 hour session of 50 competitors.
• Start list – random computerized assignment, no predefined start order
• Practice will take place before the session then…TWO scored runs – BEST SCORE COUNTS
• Top 3 women will advance to the semi finals (3 total)
• Top 6 men will advance to the semi-finals (6 total)
• Judging criteria is Overall Impression using one judge panel
• All runs are scored on a scale of 1 to 100
• All six judges scores count. Scores averaged for total run score (ex. 87.0)

MEN’S AND WOMEN’S SEMIFINALS, FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 5
• One 40 minute session of 15 women (3 advanced from qualifier and 12 invited)
• One 70 minute session of 30 men (6 advanced from qualification and 24 invited)
• Start list – seeded from qualifiers and invited riders by place from last year.
• Practice will take place before each session then…TWO scored runs – BEST SCORE COUNTS
• Top 16 men will advance to the finals.
• Top 8 women from their session will advance to the finals.
• All runs are scored on a scale of 1 to 100
• All six judge scores count. Scores averaged for total run score (ex. 87.0)

MEN’S and WOMEN’S FINALS - FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 5
• 8 women and 16 men will start.
• Finals will rotate from women, men; women, men; women, men.
• All riders will take THREE scored runs in which the best score counts.
• After all finals riders have taken all three of their runs, the top three riders will be given a fourth run (the rider with the highest scored run shall go last).
• The winner shall be the rider with the best score after the fourth bonus run
• Judging criteria is (OI) overall impression using one judge panel.
• All runs are scored on a scale of 1 to 100
• All six judges scores count. Scores averaged for total run score (ex. 87.0)

SLOPESTYLE
MEN’S and WOMEN’S QUALIFIERS - WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3
• One 100 minute session consisting of 50 men
• One 50 minute session consisting of 25 women
• Judges will be placed on course at discretion of the HJ/CD
• Each rider will take 2 runs – best run counts
• Start list order – women – random
• Top 6 men advance to Semifinals
• Top 3 women advance to Semifinals
• All runs are scored on a scale of 1 to 100
• There will be two judge panels of three judges each, judges scores are averaged for total run score (ex. 87.0). All six judges scores will count.

MEN’S and WOMEN’S SEMIFINALS - THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 4

• One 30 minute Session of 15 women (Top 3 women from qualifications, plus 12 invited)
• One 60 minute Session of 30 men (Top 6 men from qualifications, plus 24 invited)
• Judges will be placed on course at discretion of the HJ/CD
• Each rider will take 2 runs – Best Run Counts
• Start list order –seeded from the qualifiers
• Top 8 women will advance to Finals
• Top 16 men will advance to Finals
• All are scored on a scale of 1 to 100
• There will be two judge panels of three judges each, judges scores are averaged for total run score (ex. 87.0). All six judges scores will count.

MEN’S and WOMEN’S FINALS - THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 4

• 16 men and 8 Women will start
• Finals will rotate from women, men; women, men; women, men. (90 minutes)
