Whew...what a crazy fun winter it's been...and not over yet...
Callan competed in an Alaska debut extreme freeride comp (The NorthFace Masters) a couple of weeks ago and finished 8th, the top finish for the Alaskan contingent. It was awesome, "rubbing elbows" with the best freeriders and skiers on the planet.
This is Alyeska Resort's 31st annual Spring Carnival weekend. And it is spring in Alaska - bluebird skies and sunburn last week, 28 inches of new snow yesterday and rain today.
Today is the 'Callan Cross 08', a combined skiercross/boardercross event. Callan has been working all week with the cat drivers and resort staff to design and build the course and stepping up to the challenges of weather and melting snow. It should be fun.
