This weekend I went to watch the final stage of the Tour of California bike race in Escondido, which about a 30 minute drive from the Olympic Training Center. I couldn't believe the excitement there at the finish line. The crowd was packed tight and everyone so ready to cheer for the peloton that they jumped the gun and roared about 5 times with each lead motorcycle that passed by. When the bikers finally came it was a scramble, everyone trying to squeeze to get a picture. Very fun. Anything with hype is always a good time. Lance Armstrong, Floyd Landis, and Levi Leipheimer were all in the massive peloton but it was such a blur as it flew by. I didn't realize there were so many cycling fans out there!
