Live Webcast to Cover "Giant" Slalom, VW Trick Showdown and Monster Energy Slopestyle at Kokanee Crankworx
WHISTLER, BC August 8, 2008 - Kokanee Crankworx organizers have confirmed social networking site Go211.com as its live webcast partner for this year's festival. Go211.com is the premier destination for live webcasts of major action sports events from all over the world.
"Go211.com has not traditionally covered mountain bike events online, but seeing the progression of this sport is incredible," says Sean Aruda, CEO at Go211. "With the crossover of BMX dirt jumpers and the freeride side of mountain biking, this is the perfect fit for Go211's online community."
Kokanee Crankworx events being broadcast live online include the VW Trick Showdown, Thursday August 14 from 5:30 to 7:30pm PDT; "Giant" Slalom, Friday August 15 from 4:00 to 8:00pm PDT; and the Monster Energy Slopestyle at Kokanee Crankworx, Saturday August 16 from 6:00 to 7:00pm PDT.
"The Slopestyle, VW Trick Showdown and the "Giant" Slalom feature the top mountain bikers in the world and the "Giant" Slalom webcast has been extended to showcase amateur riders, whose runs will be broadcast live online for the world to see," says Jeremy Roche, GM at Kokanee Crankworx. "Definitely something for the AM's to write home about."
To broadcast the event on-site for spectators, there will be two big screens located in key locations in the Boneyard. One of the screens will be situated at the base of the Whistler Mountain Bike Park in Skiers Plaza with the other on-course built into a massive 30 foot high
structure that will house the judges' tower as well. This new programming will include live action, rider stats and replays.
Kokanee Crankworx has stepped up the production level this year with the addition of The BoomBox Group, who have worked on events such as the Dew Tour and X Games. Boombox has been brought on board to handle the production side of the broadcast with six camera locations spread throughout the Boneyard and the finish area. Mobile Muse has also been contracted to allow for coverage from remote start areas throughout the Bike Park. All the action will be captured by BoomBox and webcast on www.crankworx.com and www.go211.com for the world to see in real-time.
