Greetings from the track and field Olympic trials in Eugene, OR!
This summer I'm the host for Yahoo! Sports coverage of the Olympics in Beijing! CRAZY!!!!!!
Now I'm up for the challenge, but to be completely honest I don't know a thing about these sports! But I do know about being an Olympian and what it takes which is why I think they hired me....hopefully! Also I've met a few summer athletes through sponsors and organizations like the Women's Sports Foundation, so it's really exciting to be able to see some of them in their own element and competing for the first time. What a cool experience really; I get an all access pass to the summer Olympics, get to talk to inspiring athletes AND get to go experience China for the first time!
If you've turned the TV on at all this past week, you'll know that the Olympic quals are happening all over the country right now. To get my feet wet our crew has been hitting some of these events. Last weekend we were in Philly for the men's and women's gymnastics trials.

This was my first live gymnastics meet, they call them meets FYI, see how much I'm already learning?! I was totally impressed! Not only are these people incredibly strong but they're also really really flexible and If you look close enough in the below photo you will see an example of this! And scroll down and click on “Women’s Gymnastics team assessment,” to laugh at my new hosting/interviewing skills and more importantly to get a break down of the trials from Olympian Dominque Dawes.
Now I'm in the hot hot heat of Oregon where the fastest athletes in the country and in a lot of cases, the world, are racing for a spot on the US track and field Olympic team (apparently they don’t care about the heat).

These athletes seem to be super down to earth and cool people, but then you see them out on the track and they’re complete bad asses! A stand out memory for me yesterday was watching Tyson Gay as he broke the American record for the 100m dash. As these guys were crossing the finish line I swore they looked like wild cats and not men; again totally blow away.
So log onto Yahoo! Sports starting August 1st to get your Summer Olympic highlights from yours truly, it's gonna be awesome. Gotta run....get it!
