Yesterday was unbelivably hot. The forecast was calling for temperatures in excess of 36 degrees Celsius which translated to Farenheit is the kind of sitting in the shade not moving but still sweating uncontrollably that makes it nearly impossible to pull on a fullsuit type of hot. But what a difference a day makes! This morning the wind was blowing which cooled things down substantially but has yet to bring in the promised swell.

The waves were onshore and inconsistent, but there were a few fun rides available to the patient.

Timmy Reyes took out a twin fin and was ripping on it!

Dane and Andy went for a free surf and found the conditions less than contestable.

As so often happens, the call for whether or not to begin the contest was put off numerous times. This is the gathering of deliberators trying to decide if the conditions are decent enough to begin Round 1. From left to right, pictured are Bobby Martinez (in the hooded sweatshirt), Kieren Perrow, Dayyan Neve, Damien Hardman (in green t-shirt), Dean Morrison (in blue hat), Max from Surfing Victoria, Renato Hickel (ASP Tour Manager in light blue t-shirt), Perry Hatchet (ASP Head Judge), and Rabbit Bartholomew (in white hat). The meeting of the minds produced the decision to call it off for the day, and everyone went free surfing!

The Rip Curl Pro is the only event in the world that I know of that charges an entry fee to spectators!
Check back tomorrow for a possible start!
