After two days without any action out at the famed Bells Beach lineup, this morning we awoke to a warm sun, strong offshores, and a building swell, perfect for Rounds 1 and 2 of the women's Rip Curl Pro!

The waves were a little tricky to ride with intermittently mushy lumpy sections and fast racy walls that broke anywhere within a wide area. All the girls were struggling to connect with the right sections. Stephanie Gilmore showed why she is World Champion, scoring the highest wave of the day, a 9.4!

Jessi Miley-Dyer loves the color pink.

Claire "Bevo" Bevliacqua used her mom and biggest fan as a caddy.

Bells is Megan Abubo's favorite event on tour, having already rung the bell once, she is looking to add another bell to her trophy collection. She also earned a 9 today.

Serena Brooke was feeling a little sore this morning after a very acrobatic dance-off with Sarah Beardmore yesterday, but was able to advance into Round 3.

French surfer and daughter of surfing legend Tom Curren, Leeanne Curren, breakdancing professional Sarah Beardmore, and I, checking out the action and cheering for our friends.

With the swell on the rise there were a few magical sets pumping through "the bowl" section, mostly catching the competitors way too deep.

Suddenly, the dark clouds on the horizon turned into a full-blown storm causing event directors to call it off for the day and sending surfers and spectators running for cover.
Hopefully the storm will clear and the event will resume in the morning. Stay tuned...
