My sister Helina and her new puppy.
It happens all the time, I get a call from some television producer with an idea to include me in a very random television show. With the image of women's surfing so popular, and me living in Los Angeles without the hectic contest travel schedule of some of my peers, I get an unusually high percentage of those calls. I've been asked to be The Bachelorette, but I turned it down since I have a boyfriend. I did do a dating show on The Best Damn Sports Show Period a few years ago though. I won't be repeating that sort of thing!
A few years ago I got a call from a producer from a show on ESPN called "Off Course", where some former Soap Opera star that is also a semi-professional golfer would meet up with a guest, play golf with them, and then learn to do their sport or hobby. The producer asked me if I golfed and I replied, "sure!" even though I had never actually played other than miniature golf. That didn't go too well either.
But when I got a call a few weeks ago asking if I had a dog and wanted to teach a dog groomer to surf on tv, I figured that was safe enough. Of course, I don't actually have a dog. I'd love to have one, but my travel schedule prohibits it. So I called up my sister who had gotten a Golden Retriever puppy exactly two years ago, to see if I could borrow Chula for tv.

This is a shot of Artist Knox, the winner of the Groomer Has It reality tv show contest on Animal Planet. The prize was a mobil dog grooming truck and his own reality tv show. According to the script, I played a professional surf instructor that hired Artist to groom my dog down at the beach while I gave a surf lesson to a client. After my lesson was finished, Chula was done being groomed, and I offered Artist a lesson in return for the grooming.
I never know what to expect from these non-surfers. Artist was in reasonable shape but definitely didn't look like a surfer. To my surprise, the guy was a natural. After about 20 minutes, he was standing up in the whitewater and riding all the way to the beach. Pretty amazing!

Chula liked the grooming so much, she kept wanting to go back into the truck!
Watch for the show Groomer Knox on Animal Planet starting the Spring!
