I'm currently reading a book by Chuck Palahniuk called An Oral Biography of Buster Casey. This is the third book i've read by the author. He wrote Fight Club and a book called Choke that has also been made into a movie and is out in theaters now. My sister recommended I read it, even though i'm not a massive fan of his work. If you like gross stuff in a twisted way, this author is for you! In the book i'm reading now, he talks about a sport called party crashing involving groups of kids in cars driving around trying to nail eachother, basically the bumper car concept taken to the streets.
One of the upsides to extra time at home is getting to hang out with my sisters. I have four younger sisters, two of them still in high school. I was a full on dork in high school. I'm not afraid to admit it. I was so focused on getting good grades so I could go to UCSD and learning to surf that I didn't really socialize to much. My parents were also pretty strict, so often I just didn't even bother asking them if I could go to some party, knowing the answer would be no. Now that my youngest sister is a Freshman and the next one up is a Senior, it is interesting to see how much my parents have changed. I would never have been allowed to even go to a party with alcohol, and now my parents are hosting those parties at our house! I've heard stories of raging parties there from the local groms who are friends with my sisters. Last weekend, I was actually home and decided to cruise by and participate in some old school party crashing (no car crashing involved) for my youngest sister's 15th birthday party.
I convinced my boyfriend to come with me to go check it out. We showed up around 8pm and parked out front of my parent's house. We waited in the car for a few minutes, just tripping out on all the kids getting dropped off. The music was so loud the speakers were crackling and you could hear the bass easily through the closed car windows. We decided to get out and rather than go through the front door, follow instructions on the sign posted to go around back. We passed high school kids making out in the shadows on the side of the house and then made it into the backyard to a ton of kids just standing around. There was no visible alcohol, but many kids were visibly drunk. It was freezing out, but girls were wearing next to nothing.

It was quite a scene. I called my sister Helina who is a Senior and she came home to party crash with us. The lights were off in the tennis court, so we went down to mingle. In the semi-dark, kids couldn't tell that we were much older and we had a few boys come over to introduce themselves. Once they got close enough there were like, "whoa, who are you?" I think it was my boyfriend's mustache that gave us away. My mom thought she saw some weed smoking going on and turned on the tennis court lights, exposing us as crashers.

My sister Hayla, her best friend, and her boyfriend.
It was a pretty funny night. We saw plenty of make-outs, a few girls throwing up after too much alcohol, and even a girl fight that ended in tears. After a few hours, I gave the birthday girl a hug and we got the heck out of there.
Oh to be back in high school again...... nah, i'm glad that's over!
