I have a love/hate relationship with lower trestles. Sure it is one of the best waves in Southern California but everyone knows that and shows up when it's on. A few days ago, I reluctantly agreed to cruise down there in order to surf with up and coming women's shredder, Shelby Detmers. I tried to get excited and have an open mind. It's all in the mindset right?
But when i got down to the beach and checked out the crowd, I was almost over it completely. The waves looked really fun but there were at least 4 people on each wave. In the first 20 minutes of watching it, I saw three collisions!
I pounded a red bull, got all psyched to some good tunes, and charged out there hoping for the best. Suprisingly enough, I actually scored a few really fun waves and didn't get hurt. I call that a success, but I need a break for a few months before I throw myself into the lion's pit again!
