After a few weeks of being stuck inside of resort boundaries because of extreme avalanche danger it was time to head back to sunny and stable California. A few years ago I was out of things to ride in Tahoe. That was until I ditched my sled and started hiking the harder to reach zones. Pretty quickly I realized I had been in the foothills of the Sierra's and had only seen a small portion of the range. Since that time I have been getting know the harder to reach zones and what I have found is an abundance of incredible terrain.
The approaches are much longer and often times require camping in the mountains but the reward is some of the best lines of my life. This was the first trip of the year

- Scoping the backyard.

- Ryland is 23, commercial fishes in Alaska in the summer so he can ride everyday in the winter. He is known to ride 100 days straight and it shows in his riding. Here he is putting the final touches on one of the heaviest lines of the day.

- The crew. Pete O'brien, Seth Lightcap, Chris Edmunds, Chris Ondercine, Myself and Ryland Bell.

- So stoked to wake up surrounded by the goods.

- I looked down this line the day before and spent all night shaking my head in amazement. There is steep, really steep, and upside down steep. This is upside down steep.

- California corn. This zone reminded me of Las Lenas.

- Chris Edmunds loves to climb around rocks with his camera
