This week we were in Mt. Snow, VT for the 2nd stop of the Dew Tour. I found out 5 days before that I had a spot and made some last minute plans. I travelled to VT with Kaya Turski and Kim Lamarre. We have been skiing together a ton. We arrived in Albany NY, I rented a mini Van and we drove up to Mt. Snow. We didn't arrive until 2:30 in the morning Wednesday. Wednesday was our first day of training, to me it was typical Vermont weather. It was snowing ice... I think everyone was a little concerned about the course, it seemed to be falling apart, and the forecast looked daunting. As days passed the conditions improved dramatically and finally on Saturday the day of our contest, we had clear skies and the course was perfect! I couldn't have asked for better conditions. The jumps were big and it was a very high speed course. From each feature we had to point it and tuck into the next to clear it. I needed all the speed I could get to clear every rail and every jump. Right before the contest, I was feeling great! I landed my run in practice and was really excited. My jump line was switch 5, 5, 3, 7. After the way I was feeling all week, I was really happy to pull that off. When the contest came, I ended up sitting back on my 7 the first run and actually falling the second. I was really bummed. Falling is one of my least favorite things, and to do it both runs in the finals was disappointing. Oh well, I didn't have much time to sulk. X-Games is next week! Kaya, Kim, Sammy and I packed our things as soon as the contest was over and headed to Albany to catch our flight home. We arrived back in Breckenridge at 3:30am Mountain time Sunday morning. That's 5:30am back in VT. It was a tough travel day, but we had the entire day Sunday to sit on the couch, relax and even watch the Steelers crush the Chargers!
