I decided last minute to head over to Aspen for the Aspen Open. The event is open to anyone and it is held on the X Games course (with a few minor safety changes). It gives kids the chance to compare their skills to all their favorite X Games athletes, and even compete against us. After X Games I was feeling the need for a little redemption on the course. The weather forcast wasn't looking promising. It was calling for the same conditions that we had at X-Games 80% chance of wet snow.... I was nervous going to bed the night before, because I don't think I could of handled another day on that course when you couldn't clear the jumps. As luck would have it the weather channel was way off and it ended up being a pretty descent day! The contest went well and I was really impressed with the level. Everyone is so good these days. Henrick Harlaut won the men's division with a perfect switch 1440 on the last jump, and Michelle Parker had a really solid run to put her in first for the girls. At the end of the day I ended up standing on the podium in second place, and I am definitely happy with that!
