Kenichiwa! I am in Japan for the Nippon Open. It's a little rough this year, because there isn't much snow. Slopestyle had to be cancelled in favor of Big Air. The jump is really poppy and has a really really flat landing. We had practice the last two days, and a lot of the people haven't hit the jump. We are all waiting for it to be fixed. Hopefully the jump will get better as the days go on, but everyone is a little worried. Since the snow conditions are so bad practices are short and we are running out of time. It's fun to be back in Japan, the people are so nice. The culture is amazing, I'm not a big fan of the Buffet at our hotel though... Same food every meal for a week... I don't eat fast food, but McDonald's sounds really good right now. Lot's of pics to come when I get back to the States with a fast connection!
I'm back in Breckenridge, and I am really happy to be here. Japan didn't go quite the way I had hoped. I fell both runs in the big air. The first jump I set my trick a little off, but the 2nd I just went too big onto a flat landing and couldn't stay on my feet. I was disappointed, but sometimes these things happen. The next day was the pipe comp and I watched from the bottom. I spent some time trying to help fill in the holes. (Check the picture above) It was so warm and they forgot to salt the pipe before training. They opened training for 20 minutes and realized their mistake, but it was too late. We still had a good trip to Japan and there were a lot of fun times, but the courses definitely left us feeling like the time could have been better spent at home. I am really happy to be here now and I'm hard at work on my event Homecoming, it starts in 10 days!
