At the end of April I went to Nassau, in the Bahamas to film "The Superstars" a new show that is airing on abc at 8/7 central Tuesday nights. I haven't blogged about the experience or the show, because I am sworn to secrecy, but as the show airs I wanted to write about each episode. Episode one just aired, and here are some behind the scenes stories. I arrived at Atlantis in the Bahamas the day before we began shooting. The hotel is absolutely beautiful!

I had no idea who the other cast members were. I ran into Bode Miller at the Miami airport. I saw Lisa Leslie walking to dinner. I met Paige Hemmis in the Elevator, and I saw T.O. at check in, so I started to get a picture of the cast once I arrived. We didn't know what we were going to do (apart from sports), who was on the show, or who our partners would be until 15 minutes before the first challenge. I didn't know who Maks was when we were first paired, and vice versa. The first event was the Run and Ride. One bike per team, one person runs while the other rides, and the first team across the finish line wins. We had the strategy all wrong, but still ended up in 2nd place. Maks said he wasn't sure how to change the gears on the bike, so I opted to ride up all the hills to keep things simple. The problem was I didn't realize how big the hills were! I rode up the hills on the bike and ran the downs and left Maks to coast down hill half the course! When I got to the top of the first big climb, I was pushing as hard as I possibly could, and then I got off of the bike and tried to sprint. It didn't work I almost fell over just like Bode. It took a while to get my feet back underneath me. I didn't have any power left. In the end we had a strong finish, but it was no walk in the park!
Next up was the kayaking. It was so much fun! My family owns Yough Lake Marina in Addison, PA. I grew up on the water. It's my favorite place to be! For some of the cast it was their first time in a kayak, and I was really impressed with how everyone handled themselves. It can't be easy for 6'5" Lisa Leslie, or 6'10" Robert Horry to balance in one of those little boats. The rapids were fun and Maks did a great job keeping up with the guys and putting me in a position to cross the line first! We won both of our heats and finished the first episode in the points lead! Since we didn't go to the obstacle course that first show, I saw it on television for the first time. Luckily I was at the premier party in LA and I got to sit next to Lisa Leslie and T.O. and watch their reactions as they got caught in the ropes. It was a great night, and if you got the chance to watch, I hope you liked the show! There is a lot more action to come. If you missed the show, you can watch back episodes at abc.com
