This episode was interesting. We all arrived at the site of the 50 meter dash. We were gearing up for the race, when we got word that Jennifer Capriati was not going to be able to continue the competition. No one knew what was going to happen next. Time passed and we were waiting for a decision. Finally T.O. and Joanna returned to the set. T.O. said he was at the airport when he got the call from production. I think the rest of the cast had the same thoughts "Perfect, bring T.O. back just in time for his strongest event!!!" Our call time was pretty early, but with all the delays, it was several hours later before we got warmed up for the dash. The 50 meter dash was set up in two stages. First 50 meters, an exchange section of 25 meters in the middle and another 50 meters to the end. We could pass the baton anywhere in the exchange section. Our strategy was to have Maks run the longest portion since he was clearly faster than me. We made it all the way to face T.O. and Joanna in the final. Since each member of the team could only start the race 3 times, I had to start on the line with T.O. in the Final. "Just T.O. and I head to head for a 50 meter dash!" It was really fun and of course I had to talk trash on the starting line. In the end there was no contest. I think he beat me by half the distance to the goal! We took second in the first event.

The next day was the long jump into the lagoon. Before we started the competition, we all got a practice jump. We had no idea where to set the bar. Maks set his at 15 feet and cleared it easily. I set mine at 14 and cleared it as well. We were all set for the competition. Maks had to go second, and since we didn't know what other people were going to clear we had a goal of 30ft total. We wanted to play it safe. Maks was going to jump 16, while I jumped 14. Maks cleared 16ft by a mile! We were really concerned that we had gone for too little. Meanwhile hours were passing and the suspense was building. Everything seemed like it went by so fast while watching the show, but when camera crews are involved it's always slow going. Joanna cleared 11 feet and we knew T.O. had a 20ft jump in him. He cleared 20ft in practice, but the tide had come up 3 feet since then. We were still worried. Bode and Terrell decided to jump the same distance in the competition. First Bode missed his, and when T.O. missed his mark the whole game changed. The goal at the end of the day was to stay away from the obstacle course. Maks and I only needed enough points to keep us in 2nd for the day to stay safe. It was my turn, so I jumped the minimum it would take to ensure our safety. I put the bar at 11 ft 11 inches. It was a good thing I didn't have to jump any farther, because I just cleared it. The tide made an enormous difference. We finished the day in first place, and we were so happy to have the night off to relax!
