I flew to New Zealand a couple days ago and had a really rough flight.  An hour into the 12 hour flight the temperature control system broke.  The temperature in the cabin went up to 87 degrees and no one could fix it.   The captain initially said that they were considering landing in Hawaii. After the airline realized the cost of getting all the passengers a hotel while they made the repairs, we were told that we were going to push on to Auckland.  The people in the front of the plane where it was a little cooler were asked to give up their seats for the elderly and sick. I was stripped down to my tank top, took off my shoes and socks, and had my pants folded up past my knees.  Right before we landed Air New Zealand gave all the passengers a voucher for $30NZ.  Which is $20 US.  Hardly a repayment for 11 hours in a sauna packed in like sardines. We did arrive safely though and that is the most important! NZ and The Oakley Chicks day Out here I come!
