This year was my third year at the Oakley Chicks Day Out. I have been here every year since the Chicks Day Out started. It's a great event, and this years was by far the best. Gretchen Blieler, Silvia Mittermueller and I met all the girls in Queenstown, and piled on the bus headed for The Remarkables. The road is so scary! It's several thousand vertical feet of switch backs and no guard rails. Yikes! When we arrived we all suited up and took some runs as a group. It's a cool feeling, riding with that many girls. This year there were several skiers, and I really had a great time with them. We had a break for lunch with the whole crew and headed back out. The weather moved in pretty quickly after that so we all opted to head back to the bus and back to Queenstown, but Oakley had another surprise up their sleeve. The Shotover Jet! It's a jet boating operation in Queenstown that prides themselves in driving down the Shotover river as close to the cliffs as possible. All the girls really enjoyed it! It's totally unique to Queenstown. After the Jet boats we headed back to the Oakley condo for more excitement, dinner, games, and an Environmental talk. The day was a huge success, and I am really happy to have been part of it!
